I had no idea RV camping could be so exhausting; I hurt everywhere from the whole experience. On the flip side, my three kids spent an entire weekend together, something they have not done in my presence in far too long. There were times when I wanted to leave them by the roadside to avoid one more second of their incessant bitching but other times when I smiled so hard I thought my heart would break, such was my mother hen happiness at having all my chicks in one location. Although there were showers in our campground we have all returned sticky and dirty. We are also dehydrated and some of us, me, in dire need of a real bed. It is a story I am far too tired to record tonight, but one I will find time to bitch about tomorrow.
This morning we visited the local dinosaur museum, a spot Loren and Cass remembered fondly from their earlier years. Some of the dinosaurs move and make noises, the one that has so captivated Devon spits water on to unsuspecting four year-olds and prompts them to scream and laugh in such a manner that it brings the entire museum crowd to watch. I look at these pictures that have the three of my offspring together in one frame and I want to weep with happiness that not only are the older two not clawing at each other, but that they all appear, if only for a few minutes, to be in harmony. That alone is worth the mountainous amounts of effort entailed for this trip. The last image is of Loren, Mia, Cassidy and Devon on our way to yet another soccer game.
