“When the voices get too overwhelming, I sculpt orchids. Then all is quiet.” This is from Lawrence Fishborne’s character in a fairly recent CSI episode. ( I don’t know how recent since I watch them in streaming time where the shows don’t seem to be in any particular order. ) So my response to this is, “Are you even serious? Is this all the writers could think of? Because if I was a teen age boy I would say ‘Gay, gay, gay.’” But I’m not. I am a sensitive mom who believes that if a grown fellow wants to dabble in orchids, be it nurturing them, painting them, sculpting them or composing poetry about them, then so be it. All things are good in my book. However, I am thinking I need a new series to divert my attention because the CSI stuff is just silly. Wouldn’t a police fellow be more apt to rake Zen gardens or play the harmonica? I’m just wondering.

Yeah, playing the harmonica. Totally. But he’s a former professor, right, so I guess orchid is their bow to that.
Finally, someone watches one of the three shows I can “speak” semi-intelligently about. But only ever semi.
All right. I guess once you put the professor spin on it there is a different gleam to the whole thing. It’s still a bit silly.
