1. Yesterday I accomplished something I have been wanting to do for many years, I finished a particular bike ride. When all was said and done I think it amounted to something between 60 and 70 miles. I had a long conversation with my dad during the ride and we actually accomplished quite a bit during our chat. True, it was a one sided chat, what with him living on the other side of the stars and all, but it was a really good talk.
2. Today I realized that in my zest to ride, I poorly applied the sunblock to my thigh area. Now there is simply not enough Noxema, Arnica or benzocaine that can heal my pain. Thank you, global warming and my lack of sunblock application.
3. Soccer season has started for Loren. He and I will be up again tomorrow at 5 a.m. to get to his first practice of the day. That’s right, I said his first. He has another one at night. This madness will go on until school starts on September 4. Fuuuuuuck.
4. Devon kicked my ass so fiercely today that for a time I forgot about the burning pain on my thighs and could only fantasize about the day his preschool begins: September 4.
5. Cassidy has been fully occupied by her social agenda and for once she is the angel of my eye. Funny how the earth’s axis can shift that way.
6. I can’t freaking wait to go to bed. The alarm will ring far too early and I will wonder to myself, “What the fuck? Why was I so opposed to home schooling? Then we would never have to leave the house again.”
7. It’s only Monday.

Let’s see. I had to guess at the time the two younger girls caught the bus – luckily the same time as last year.
Two days into school, Elcie still doesn’t have a bus. We’ve been loading the wheelchair and driving her. The school didn’t have an aide for her; teachers and high school seniors are helping until she gets her bearings.
We had a three way tug of war over one pair of jeans and Rochelle put on Elcie’s shirt.
Other than that? Completely normal around here.
Good luck with the soccer but when is that child going to sleep? Or, more to the point, when are you?
Almost forgot. Elcie left her schedule at school, couldn’t remember what her first class was, the teacher, or the location. Finally found it but why am I the one memorizing her schedule?
Fuuuuck.
I think we’re all hanging on until September 4!
Loved this post. So glad about the bike ride.
Soccer sounds like HELL. Oh my.
Send Devon to see Auntie Jen.
