Interview Meme

After reading Andie’s interview meme where she asked for volunteers for some questions, I uncharacteristicly raised my hand and yelled, “Me! Me! Pick me!” And she did. So here is my effort to answer the questions. A couple of them were pretty hard and kept me awake last night, but I’ll give them a go….
1. What would others say is your most annoying habit?
This one took awhile because I had to face the inner me that I try so hard to ignore. But here it is: I am a bit of a flake. Yes, it’s true. I’ll commit to something and then not follow through. I’ll make plans for big things and then decide that something smaller would be far more preferable. Aim low and land lower seems to be a pattern for me. Ouch. It looks so much more harsh in print than when it floats about in my head.
2. A man with a large boom box appears and follows you around at all times, playing your theme song when you walk into a room. What is playing and why?
Oh dear. This one was super hard. It just raises so many questions. Why is the man following me? Why is it a man and not a woman? And is it one of those super huge 80′s boom boxes? If so, why doesn’t he upgrade and get something more modern and compact? But if he is straight from the 80′s, does this mean my theme song must also be from that era? Do you see the struggle here?
The thought of this fellow, who I have mentally dressed in a red and white stripey running suit, gives me stress. Is he always there? Like on a reality tv show? And how long does he linger? Months? Years? That’s a looooooong time to hear the same song. I might end up in an institution.
So given the high amounts of stress that come with the question, I am going to say that I would want a relaxing song to play. Likely something classical. I love Andre Boccelli and I love Puccini opera. There is also an Eric Sarti melody that is hauntingly beautiful. But being the flake that I am, that is as far as I can go to committing.
3.What is your “dream job”?
Oh, now I really like this one. I would be a painter. I would get to paint any sort of mural on any surface I liked. Sort of like a freelance graffitti artist, but without the arrest thing. I would have an unlimited amount of paint and brushes. I could paint farm fences, school walls, grocery aisle floors, you name it. But if I couldn’t make it to work, there would be no pressure or guilt. And as for pay? As long as I can feed the kids, I don’t care.
4. What’s the big story you haven’t written yet but will someday?
Oh, golly that is a hard one. I think there is a story deep inside me about a young woman/girl who finds herself pregant, without a degree and not wanting to marry the father. She has a hard road, lots of bumps. But she ends up making beautiful pictures and someday sits down to a peaceful buffet lunch with her three teenage kids. There they converse without fighting or throwing food. Afterwards they go for a walk on the beach. Sounds good to me.
5. How many brothers and sisters do you have, and what is your position in the birth order of your family? Do you believe birth order affects personality?
I have an older brother by four years. I am the youngest. Yes, I think birth order has a HUGE impact on personality. Growing up under my bad news, super smart, bi-polar brother shaped so much of who I am. There is a story in there somewhere, too.
So there are my answer’s to Andie’s questions. Good times. I am not sure if I have to tag somebody now or if I get to make up some questions. I might spend the rest of the day dreaming up some good ones.

I was a little concerned about the thought of a man with a boom box following me around all day as well. I’d like to hear your story someday, sounds interesting. I’d like to paint as well, something besides walls, I mean.
