One of my most favorite things in the world is a cup of of coffee -cafe au lait style- in the mornings. I like to drink half a cup as soon as I get up, another one after the children go to school and then another half in the afternoons after Devon wakes up from his nap but before the older kids get home from school. All in all it adds up to 1 1/2 cups of coffee per day. It doesn’t seem like a whole lot and not to whine, but it truly seems that it is an indulgence I should get to enjoy. But I can’t. The caffeine just messes too much with my migraines. A month ago I switched to white tea in hopes that the lower caffiene content would not be such a hindrance. But still my head was apt to explode on whim either during or after the tea.
So as of Friday I am off the juice. Not even decaf. No caffeine at all. None. Not even a sip. I have been drinking herbal tea in the mornings. And really? It just sucks. I watch my mother have her coffee and heckle her the entire time. I know I am obnoxious and rude, but why should she get to have all the fun? True, no migraines for three days now, and that’s a good things considering I had one for about 4 straight days earlier last week. But still, it just seems so unfair.

That sounds like utter hell– except for the no migraines part.
Can you have decaffeinated coffee?
OK, and I mean this in the nicest way a pregnant woman can mean something like this, but boo f-ing hoo. At least you can still have a glass of wine in the eveing to take the edge off your caff-free day. Mmmm hmmm. Yeah. You remember the true hell of absitnance now, dont you?
You just like the drama of bitching. Just because you’re knocked up and all uncomfortable and your ankles are huge and you can only sleep on one side and you have an alien being kicking the crap out of your innards you think you can moan and whine. Whatever.
I had a dream last night that Camelia Jo was poking him and he came out of my belly like on the movie.
I guess the good thing is that it isnt snowing here.
I don’t even know HOW to kick caffiene…
Hey, I read your comment over at Jenorama’s. We just bought land in Belize – if you are serious about the compound idea….there were more acres to be sold.
OMG-I would just die. I get migraines too, but I’m the opposite-If I can get an excedrine or 2 in my system when I first start feeling the inklings of a headache, I can usually head it off. My trigger is…chocolate. Ugh. A little bit is ok, but PMS quantities? Forget it! It’s no wonder I always associated them with “that time of month”.
