Note to self: when drinking boxed white wine with my mother, it is best to keep it to 1 1/2 glasses or less. Anything more makes for far too many revelations. What is it about wine in a box that is so different from wine in a bottle? Is it that it is just far more trashier? Is it the fact that the boxes were gifts during the greiving times and we feel compelled to drink them, along with all the bottles? Or is that we have become mindless whinos and that boxed wine after the hour of 7 p.m. offers a solice unlike the other hours of the day? I really don’t know, and frankly don’t give a flying fuck at this time of the day. Whatever the case, I suspect that I will regret the full two glasses when Devon raises his enlarged white head at 5:50 in the morning and bellows, “Mai-Mai! Open door! Open door! Open dooooooooooooooooor!”
